Republic FC Preseason: Matchday One

Sacramento Republic FC Preseason: Matchday One

The Sacramento Republic FC preseason began their preseason schedule with a 5-0 defeat of the Sacramento Gold in a friendly on a rainy Saturday night at American River College.

Striker Cameron Iwasa recorded the first half’s only goal from a pass from the left winger Villyen Bijev. ( 11th minute) Exactly what the fans came for, to see heroes of the club being heroes of the club. It was fitting that Sacramento’s top goal scorer and leading assist man for the 2018 campaign putting themselves on the stat sheet to begin the 2019 preseason.

Republic FC played to a 1-0 halftime lead and at half coach Simon Elliott made eleven substitutions and this is when the team moved the ball with tempo, scored four goals, and really turned the screw in impressive domination.

Debutant winger Stefano Bonomo scored when the ball came down the left flank and he was able maneuver to goal and score. (68th minute)

The Tower Bridge Battalion, the team's supporter group, and the rest of the lively, rain drenched crowd of possibly a hundred loved every second of this long-awaited showing.

The team really turned the screw in the final third for the last twelve minutes of the match. Quincy Butler, former academy player now pushing for minutes, got on the end of a ball in the middle of the 18 yard box and scored. (78th minute)

Hayden Partain and (My name is Tyler, too) Tyler Blackwood boosted the lead to 5-0 with late goals in the second half and that’s the end of my quick take/hit take review.

Thank you for taking the time to read my review.
